Eli Pariser's Great Video - "Beware of On-line Filter Bubbles" (Invisible Algorithmic Web Editing)

Beware of Invisible Algorithmic Editing of Internet Searches, News, etc.

Eli Pariser, a speaker for TED.com, says there is a shift in how information is flowing on-line (the Web).
He says, major web players like Face Book, Goggle, Yahoo, and others are greatly employing invisible algorithmic editing to "tailor" search results, news, etc., to the individual.
Pariser, in his video Beware of On-Line Filter Bubbles, says there is great potential danger in this practice.
People expect an honest, straight-forward, result when they search the Web, but increasingly they are getting skewed, slanted, artificial results.
I would say there is great potential for serious abuse and distortion of truth! I cannot imagine the evil spirits NOT being involved in this!

Pariser is a speaker at "TED" (TED.com) - (Technology, Entertainment, Design).
Their motto is -- "Ideas worth spreading."

We risk becoming, each, internets of one, being trapped in our "filter bubbles."

Pariser says it's like, there is no standard Goggle anymore. There are 57 "signals" Goggle looks at, employing invisible algorithms to determine "relevance" to the searcher, and to "personalize," "tailor," "edit," the search results given to that person.

He says that Yahoo News and other outfits are likewise, increasingly, "personalizing," "tailoring," and "editing" news given to individuals.

He says that as this practice continues to "sweep the Web," the individual is going to be closed in -- into what he calls a "filter bubble."

He says we are in danger of each becoming a "webs of one," that is, isolated from the rest of the real Internet world by these "filters," or "relevance" determining algorithms.

Pariser notes that we are left without any choice in this "personalization" process, and we are left clueless as to what kind of things are excluded from the "results" we are given.

On the subject of civic well being and good citizenship, he says, we may need to see things that make us think, things we don't necessarily like, things that challenge us, and other people's viewpoints, in order to be good citizens.

He quotes Eric Schmidt of Goggle: "It will be very hard for people to watch or consume something that has not in some sense been personally tailored to them."

Pariser speaks of the "gatekeepers" who write these algorithms that control the flow of information, that effectively decide for us, without our knowledge, nor permission, what is "relevant" for us to receive.

He says we need the Internet - being what we dreamed it should be - to connect us all together - to introduce us to new ideas, new people, and different perspectives.

He says we seem headed for a diet of "Internet junk food."

Eli Pariser takes the approach that these "gatekeepers" and their "relevant" deciding algorithms are benign, and just needs some exhortation to adopt good ethics.

My view is quite different.

I'm convinced the Bible is right, evil is very very real, and there are very powerful, evil, people plotting and planning evil against God and his people.

I repeat, below, material from my page President Woodrow Wilson's Words Intrigue Me.

that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." -- Woodrow Wilson -- 1913.

I am sure President Wilson was not wildly throwing words around. He meant every word in its fullest sense.

I'm not a sports fan but we all know beating a strong opponent is big deal, as opposed to a weak opponent.

God allows himself an immensely powerful opponent in the person of the Devil or Satan.

This POWERFUL opponent allows God to demonstrate his mighty power.

Edgar Hoover was FBI director for half a century -- 50 years -- he would know what is really going on in the world.

Former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover said:

"The individual is handicapped by coming face to face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists." -- J. Edgar Hoover.

The constant drumbeat of deception from the media is that it's one political party vs. the other, Conservatives vs. Liberals, or that these are just business and economic cycles.

NOT TRUE!. - Wilson and Hoover saw what was really going on, but maybe not fully so.

But, Psalm 2 would give the authoritative statement in this regard.

Psalm 2

1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.

5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Psalm 2 is the ultimate truth in this matter.

It shows that both human and demonic entities are allied against God and trying to overthrow him.

This would certainly be the ultimate sense of Hoover's words -- "A conspiracy so monstrous one cannot believe it exits."

The "kings of the Earth" and their demon handlers,"the rulers," are conspired together to cast off God's rule, and to reject God's anointed, who is Jesus Christ.

This gives complete reason to take Wilson's word in the truest, broadest, sense.

THIS WOULD BE THE REAL REASON I THINK THIS ALGORITHMIC "PERSONALIZATION" OF INTERNET RESULTS IS THE WORK OF NONE OTHER THAN THESE KINGS AND RULERS IN PSALM 2.

IT ALSO MEANS THAT THINGS ARE SPEEDING ALONG TOWARD THEIR GOAL OF TOTAL WORLD DOMINATION.

THIS ALSO MEANS THAT THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST IS NEAR!

If one accepts the standard belief that the world is just stumbling through history one may not SEE THIS.

If one carefully compares scriptural testimony and evidences, like on jury duty, one begins to see the Bible is truly God's book.

We can then be confident that prophesies, such as Psalm 2 are also God's book, and reliable!

If one, then, views current events in the light that Psalm 2 is indeed, true ---

Then, current events are really seen to fit this pattern ---

And, this algorithmic relevance determining practice, being used increasingly on the Internet, will be seen as a terrific tool and weapon in the hands of the "kings of the earth and the rulers (Psa2)," to manipulate, and position the population into the perilous predicament these kings and rulers desire for them.

WE ARE PAST THE TIPPING POINT, TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR US!

JESUS CHRIST IS -- OUR GOLDEN PARACHUTE -- HE'S OUR ONLY HOPE!
